• Zeńsko Wind Farm Features Three GE 2.5-100 Wind Turbines;
• Project Will Help Poland Expand its Renewable Energy Supply.

Powered by three 2.5-100 wind turbines supplied by GE (NYSE: GE), the new project will help Poland expand its renewable energy production and will contribute to the country’s increasing energy independence.

KSM Energia Sp. z o. o., owner of the project, developed the wind farm with the supervision by its majority shareholder, Renpro Sp. z o. o. Featuring a rotor diameter of 100 meters, GE’s 2.5-100 machine provides customers with increased annual energy production while maintaining required levels of efficiency, reliability and grid-connection capabilities. GE’s 2.5-MW wind turbine was developed in Europe (at GE’s facility in Salzbergen, Germany) to specifically meet the requirements and needs of the European market.

During the commissioning ceremony, Grzegorz Małaszuk, KSM Energia chairman, said: “The opening of the Żeńsko wind farm is a very important step in the development of both KSM Energia and Renpro companies. We believe the project contributes to the development of the Krzęcin municipality and also supports the national commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.”

The project was co-financed from the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment[1], which contributed more than 11 million PLN to the total investment of nearly 38 million PLN.

Norbert Kiderys, Renpro’s chairman, commented: “The Żeńsko project was developed by Polish companies and is a significant step toward increasing the region’s wind energy capacity, helping Poland move toward the E.U. requirement of having 15 percent of the country’s total energy supplied by renewable resources by 2020. We hope to continue cooperating with GE as we move forward to develop additional wind projects.”

In addition to supplying the wind turbines, GE has a 10-year full service agreement with KSM Energia Sp. Z o. o. to help ensure the Żeńsko wind farm continues to operate at optimal levels of availability and efficiency.

“This is a day to celebrate the great cooperation among KSM Energie Sp.Z.o.o., Renpro Sp.z.o.o. and GE Energy,” said Stephan Ritter, general manager of GE's Renewable Energy business in Europe. “While the customer has prepared the site very well by setting up the necessary infrastructure, GE has again proven that cross-national project work is one of our key strengths. Our installation and commissioning team has ensured that the wind park can start producing energy on schedule.”

The 7.5-MW Żeńsko project is the second in Poland to feature GE’s multi-megawatt technology, following the 21-unit Nekla wind park that entered service in the Wielkopolska region last year. More than 550 of GE’s 2.5-class wind turbines have been deployed worldwide, including more than 400 for projects across Europe. Designed as an evolutionary product, the 2.5 builds upon the success of GE’s 1.5-megawatt wind turbine, the world’s most widely deployed megawatt-class wind turbine with more than 16,500 units installed to date.
