Kerio Technologies will host the Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium’s tri-annual testing event and technical conference on October 3-7 in Prague, Czech Republic. CalConnect XXII will bring together leading vendors for Interoperability Testing and roundtable discussions.
CalConnect was established to promote open standards and the interoperability of calendaring and scheduling systems. The consortium is made up of leading technologies vendors and universities that work together to ensure the protocols within their offerings are completely compatible with other products and applications. Through rigorous testing, compatibility is verified and ultimately this means that end users are able to communicate with others no matter what email application or mobile client they choose to use.
“Open standards are future of reliable business communications,” said Dave Thewlis, executive director, CalConnect. “There are so many heterogeneous work environments that are getting more complex everyday. It’s critical that all these programs, applications and devices from various vendors work together to ensure the exchange of important information among colleagues, partners, and customers.”
Kerio, an early adopter of open standards, is hosting the event at the Hotel Majestic Plaza in downtown Prague, CZ. The Kerio Connect messaging and collaboration server features the latest CalDAV protocol, which allows for the server to fully control calendar synchronization with various CalDAV clients such as iCal on the Mac and Calendar on the iPhone.
“We are honored to host the first full global interoperability test event in Europe, which is a nice follow up to the Mobile Calendaring Interoperability Test Event we brought to Prague three years ago for the European CalConnect members,” said Dusan Vitek, vice president of Worldwide Marketing for Kerio Technologies, Inc. “We look forward to a lively testing process and great discussions with some of the leading developers in the calendaring and sharing space. CalDAV has been a part of Kerio Connect since 2008 and since that time has been adopted by almost all of the leading messaging vendors and vendors who utilize or offer calendars in their applications.”
CalConnect’s interoperability test events offer those with calendaring implementations the opportunity to test compatibility with others and gather immediate feedback.
CalConnect is open to any organization or individual with a stake improving the effectiveness of calendaring and scheduling. Full information about the conference may be found at CalConnect XXII. Special pricing is available for non-members and individuals.
The Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium (CalConnect.org) is a partnership among vendors, developers, and customers to advance calendaring and scheduling standards and implementations. The Consortium develops recommendations for improvement and extension of relevant standards, develops requirements and use cases for calendaring and scheduling specifications, conducts interoperability testing for calendaring and scheduling implementations, and promotes calendaring and scheduling.
