ZOLL Medical Corporation (Nasdaq GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions, announced today that it will display its fully integrated portfolio of resuscitation devices and data management solutions that address each link in the Chain of Survival in Booth #411 at the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA Annual Conference September 22-24 at the Tampa Convention Center.
Education Session: The ART of Resuscitation
ZOLL’s integrated portfolio and advanced CPR technology will be highlighted in an education session entitled “The ART of Resuscitation – A New Process for Improving Outcomes from Sudden Cardiac Arrest” conducted by Daniel Davis, M.D., Head of the Resuscitation Science Center at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Medical Center. Dr. Davis will discuss how two UCSD hospitals that piloted a new cardiac arrest training program improved outcomes from cardiac arrest and doubled survival to discharge from 21% to 42% in the first 18 months of the program. Neurologically intact survival also doubled.
This session is scheduled for Thursday, September 22 from 6:30 – 8 pm. in Rooms 13-16. To register to attend, go to zoll.com/ena.
ZOLL’s Ongoing Commitment to Improve CPR Quality
The increased focus in the new American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiac Care on methods to improve CPR quality has been an ongoing commitment of ZOLL since 2002, when it was the first to introduce real-time CPR feedback in its AED Plus®. Today, all ZOLL defibrillators, from ACLS to AEDs, feature Real CPR Help® audio and visual feedback for the correct chest compression depth and rate, and tracking of idle time. All CPR is documented for post-resuscitation debriefing.
Further supporting the 2010 Guidelines are the R Series® Code-Ready® family of defibrillators for hospitals, and the AED Pro®, both of which offer See-Thru CPR®, a breakthrough technology that filters out CPR artifact from the ECG to reduce CPR interruptions. Use of capnography on the R Series determines ET tube placement, tracks resuscitation progress, and provides a clear indication of ROSC. The R Series Code-Ready Defibrillators are designed to extend “Simple, Smart and Ready” defibrillation to every hospital department through advanced, cost-effective solutions for resuscitation.
ZOLL’s AutoPulse® is an automated, portable, chest compression device with an easy-to-use, load-distributing LifeBand® that squeezes the entire chest, improving blood flow to the heart and brain during resuscitation. The AutoPulse delivers high-quality, uninterrupted chest compressions to maintain myocardial and cerebral perfusion even when moving patients, traveling in an ambulance or during a PCI precedure. Additionally, it offers the benefit of freeing up clinicians to focus on other life-saving interventions.
The newest addition to ZOLL’s resuscitation portfolio is RescueNet® 12-Lead, the first web browser-based system that allows access from any computing device with Internet capability. No dedicated hardware or proprietary software is required. RescueNet 12-Lead is available from ZOLL at no charge to hospitals and EMS organizations.
Additional highlights of ZOLL’s integrated portfolio on display at ENA include:
• Intravascular Temperature Management (IVTM®) technology offers health care providers the power and control they need to rapidly, safely, and effectively manage the core body temperature of critically ill or surgical patients. The Thermogard XP® delivers accurate, easy-to-use and cost-effective control for both cooling and warming applications.
• CodeNet® is the first software system that allows hospital teams to better document, manage, and review cardiac arrest event and resuscitation information.
• PocketCPR® for the iPhone® is the first training app to provide CPR training and practice using the 2010 American Heart Association CPR Guidelines. The application provides clear visual and audio step-by-step coaching on CPR performance and includes the initial steps to follow in the Chain of Survival.
