Phoenix, AZ, United States, 2011/09/20 - IKOLOJI (formerly Sonoran Sustainable Building Advisors Program – Sonoran SBAP) is the new sustainability collaborative of Leslie Lindo and Ben Montclair - IKOLOJI.com.
Though the company will still focus on sustainability-based education, both the markets served, as well as the services offered have been expanded upon to have further reach into the communities served and economic development. As a study, ecology focuses on the relationships between human groups and their physical and social environments, which is what the company will place emphasis on.
The goal of IKOLOJI is not to just educate, but give those who complete the 100+ hour Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) Program and certification, the resources and tools to apply what they’ve learned by connecting them to the right people, places and things. Thus, collaboration - with cities, developers, building designers, SBA students and others.
IKOLOJI President, Leslie Lindo says,“We are very excited to be growing our market to include Denver and Chicago, as well as continuing to have a strong presence in Arizona. Our main objective is to create a community of sustainability professionals who operate with respect for all life, both present and future. The green industry continues to be one of the only current arenas experiencing job growth, especially in Arizona. That makes it a crucial market to continue to develop and support to ensure the sustainable economic survival of our nation.”
CEO, Ben Montclair adds,“Since founding the company in 2008, we’ve had students go through the SBA program, learning the necessary skills to start or further their careers in the sustainability industry, but not know how to go about really getting plugged in. We have the tools and resources to change that.”
The SBA Program teaches participants how to apply the fundamental principles of sustainability. The course offers a hands-on approach to sustainability training that challenges students to recognize and understand problems, identify opportunities, and craft innovative solutions in the built environment. Scope includes global, regional, municipal, commercial, and residential perspectives. Course participants learn and apply best practices in sustainability sciences, both in and out of the classroom over a 9 month course.
IKOLOJI (ikoloji.com) has partnered with, and received assistance from several sects to make the training and certification both accessible and affordable to everyone. Most recently, fully-funded training was made available thanks to a State Energy Sector Partnership grant received by the State. The goal of the grant is to provide training and national certifications to help career seekers in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries.
