MetraTech Corp., the leading provider of agreements-based billing and compensation solutions, today announced that it has been included as a sample vendor in two categories in a newly published independent research report,“Hype Cycle for Communications Service Provider Operations, 2011” by Gartner, the leading technology research and advisory company.
Each year, Gartner releases its Hype Cycles report series, which is a maturity assessment of more than 1,900 technologies and trends. Hype Cycles help organizations to understand the landscape of technology maturity and markets.
In its July 2011 report, Gartner examines CSP operations management technologies. The report details how to deploy these technologies to support the present trend away from providing voice and data services to enabling CSPs to become players in the "infocommunications" sphere, which includes telecommunications, media and entertainment, and IT.
MetraTech believes being listed as a sample vendor in both the Supplier & Partner Relationship Management and Convergent Charging categories is an indication that MetraTech’s unique, agreements-based billing and compensation solution -- which is relationship-driven and supports fluid, individualized and interrelated agreements across customers, suppliers and channels -- is gaining traction in the market.
The Supplier & Partner Relationship Management category is an area critical to CSPs, who face the challenge of monetizing digital and non-digital services provided by third parties to deal with declining voice revenues. Gartner points out that,“the new value chain will include not just other CSPs, but also content providers, content aggregators, mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) and mobile virtual network enablers (MVNEs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), developers, value-added resellers (VARs), channel partners, banks and payment providers, and advertising providers.” It is for this type of complex and lengthy value chain that MetraTech’s agreements-based billing approach was conceived.
The Convergent Charging category -- which initially addressed the integration of mobile intelligent network (IN)-based and IT-based billing, rating and charging on a single platform to enable customers' seamless movement between prepaid and postpaid services -- has now broadened to address services outside a CSP's "garden wall."
Gartner concludes that while adoption of these solutions has been slow,“an increasing number of mobile CSPs are evaluating or have launched initiatives for converged prepaid or postpaid platforms. The introduction of service bundles requires that CSPs provide greater flexibility to their customers to access these services. Migrating low average revenue per unit (ARPU) prepaid customers to higher-ARPU postpaid services drives adoption of these solutions.”
MetraTech provides monetization solutions to the CSP, financial services, conferencing and collaboration, and cloud sectors. MetraTech’s unique approach of fitting the billing system to a customer’s business model provides customers with the simplest and most flexible integration to bring complex, multi-party business models to market quickly; provides fast and accurate reconciliation with client, supplier, and partner systems; and provides a more personalized customer and partner experience.
MetraTech’s MetraNet product addresses communications industry challenges.
