Pune, Maharashtra, India, 2011/08/31 - Persistent Systems, a leader in outsourced software product development today announced that they have invested in a 2.1 MW windmill turbine at Dhule, Maharashtra, as a part of their Green Persistent Movement - Persistent.co.in. BSE & NSE: PERSISTENT
The wind turbine purchased from Suzlon Energy has started generating electricity which is being supplied to the MSEDCL grid at Gangapur sub-station. The 2.1 MW wind turbine is the first of its kind to be purchased by a listed IT company and will generate 37 Lakhs unit of power on an average annually. The wind turbine is optimally installed to derive maximum benefit for generation of power.
India has the fifth largest installed wind power capacity in the world, according to the World Wind Energy Report 2008. The investment in the wind mill will help to reduce global warming and falls in line with Persistent’s initiatives towards Environment Management. Persistent was recently recommended for ISO 14001:2004 Certification Audit for Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for its Pune facility.
