Brownsville, TX, United States, 2005/07/15 - Looking to spice up the palates of hungry patrons with a love for great tasting chicken wings, Wingstop Restaurants, Inc. opened its second Brownsville, Texas location on Wednesday, July 6.
Raul Torres, owner of Wings by the Border, Inc., opened the location in Plaza North Shopping Center at 2950 Southmost, Suite 106.
Torres dined at Wingstop when he lived in San Antonio. He wanted to bring the concept to the Valley and opened his first store in Brownsville in August 2002.
“We had a lot of success with our last store and I expect similar success here,” said Torres. “We opened on Wednesday and have had large crowds since.”
The new Wingstop is open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to midnight. Orders can be phoned in to the new location at (956) 541-9464.
The chain offers restaurants with a nostalgic, aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings. Wingstop features nine proprietary wing flavors, including Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic, Mild, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper, Hawaiian, Garlic Parmesan, and our brand new Hickory Smoked BBQ. The wings are always made-to-order and served steaming-hot. Customers also choose from homemade side dishes: fresh-cut seasoned fries, bourbon baked beans, pearl potato salad, creamy cole slaw, vegetable sticks, rolls and assorted dipping sauces.
Wingstop has over 400 restaurants either open or under development in 25 states and consistently tops industry growth rankings. This July, Wingstop was ranked number four in Restaurants & Institutions’ ‘Top 400 Sales-Growth Leaders’ (the only wing chain in the top ten).
Also in July, Wingstop ranked number seven in Restaurant Business’ ‘Top 50 Growth Chains’ (ranked by percentage increase in units) and number three in their list of chains by increase in average unit volume. Troy Aikman, former Dallas Cowboy and Super Bowl MVP, signed on as the chain’s national spokesman in 2003.
