The Windward Documentation Wiki makes it easier than ever for users to access vital product information, pose questions, and improve existing content.
Along with extensive user guides for each Windward solution, the wiki offers hundreds of pages of template design tips, video tutorials, resource links, quick start guides, as well as reporting, and docgen samples and templates. Windward employees and customers can edit it at any time, helping to build up the substantial documentation resource.
"Our customers will benefit from numerous features that, until now, we were unable to implement in our Windward documentation," said Ryan Fligg, Sales Engineer. "The wiki has superb organization, integration with our online helpdesk and a global search engine that will allow users to get the information they need – fast."
The new wiki is based on MindTouch software. This approach enabled Windward to easily create organized sections for each Windward solution:
• .NET engine: The robust reporting and document generation engine that utilizes the power of .NET;
• Arrow: The only complete SharePoint reporting, document management, dashboard and business intelligence system;
• AutoQuery: The business intelligence solution that gives you access to ad-hoc and drill down capabilities;
• AutoTag: The template design tool that integrates into Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
• Java Engine: The powerful, enterprise-level Java/J2EE reporting and docgen engine;
• Javalin: A standalone report and scheduling server.
In addition, the wiki contains a number of behind-the-scenes tools that will ultimately improve how the user interacts with Windward software. The wiki lists popular search queries, allowing Windward to better analyze what terms users are most interested in and which topics best answer users' questions. Plus, the community scoring features show which documentation pages are the most helpful and which could be improved.
"The level of detail and description of why you would use a new feature – as well as how – has jumped substantially," said David Thielen, Chief Technical Officer. "Switching our approach to documentation has helped our customers significantly."
Launched in 2003, Windward offers business intelligence, enterprise reporting, document generation and Web-based business intelligence solutions. Windward is the only full-featured, robust Java and .NET engine to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as a layout tool, putting template design and report and document generation power in the hands of the end user. Any Microsoft Office user can easily and securely create reports and documents with almost no learning curve.
Windward works by merging any XML, SQL or custom data source—or any combination thereof—with a Microsoft Office report template. It feeds data into the template to create a what-you-see-is-what-you-get report that can be generated in DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, HTML, direct to printer, RTF, XLS, WordML, TXT, and CSV. Windward runs as a standalone application or in an enterprise computing environment. Also unique, Windward implements in hours, offers affordable server-based pricing, and offers “prompt, fantastic” technical support via a 24/7 support forum and support contracts. Windward developer and production systems are available for purchase or free trial at windwardreports.com/.
The Windward user group spans 70 countries. User applications include financial statements, inventory reports, product-usage reports, purchase orders, invoices, training certificates, timesheets, and licenses. Other applications include reporting to meet requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley, Patriot Act, ARRA, HIPAA, Health Level Seven, Gramm-Leach-Blailey, Basel II, and other U.S. and international acts and accords affecting financial services, real estate, government, and insurance industries and the consultants and integrators serving them.
