NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, announced at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2011 that it has increased the number of verified kilometers of roads in the NAVTEQ map of Indonesia map by almost 300% in the past two years. Known for its automotive grade quality, the latest commercially released version of the map has the most verified coverage for a digital map in Indonesia.
NAVTEQ collects up to 200 road network attributes when building its country specific maps and uses local geographic analysts to verify its accuracy. Among the road attributes included in the NAVTEQ map are direction of travel (one-ways), number of lanes, speed limits and turn restrictions, all of which enable NAVTEQ customers to create navigation systems with highly accurate turn-by-turn guidance.
In addition to road attributes, the high quality NAVTEQ map of Indonesia features over 330,000 Points of Interest (POI) across 100 categories to enable end-users to more easily select their destination. This enormous collection of POI includes mosques, restaurants, pawnshops (Pegedaian), petrol stations and hospitals. And as part of the map build process, the POI location is accurately geo-coded or linked to the map, further supporting a quality guidance experience.
Also available for the Indonesia map are 3D Landmarks of well known locations such as Monas National Monument and Wisma 46. This visual content is designed to improve driver orientation and provide a sense of well being by replicating on the navigation screen what end-users see out their windshield,
