Intercept IT, the UK’s leading cloud application delivery service provider, has teamed up with its customer figleaves.com, the luxury lingerie online retailer, for an exciting integrated marketing campaign raising awareness for women in technology through its “Be Bold” campaign.
Five courageous female employees from Intercept IT happily agreed to appear in the social media campaign with a two-fold agenda. The women posed in some of figleaves.com latest styles in a campaign featuring real women to help drive attention to the need for more women in the technology field. The “Be Bold” campaign will be taking advantage of social media to spread the word far and wide.
Lauren Bradley, Marketing Manager at Intercept IT commented,“figleaves.com is one of our favourite customers because of its focus on women and its willingness to be unconventional. At Intercept IT we strive to help our customers in all areas of the business and not just their IT. This opportunity has allowed us to promote our customer and promote real women in technology. We wanted to be bold and really raise some awareness for the need for more women in technology. I’m pretty sure they’ll notice us now!”
According to the Women and Men in Science, Engineering and Technology; The UK Statistics Guide 2010 released by the UKRC, 12.3% of all people working in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) related fields are women. Women made up 54.7 per cent of health professionals and associate professionals, but only 15.5% of all other SET professionals and associate professionals. The statistics at Intercept IT are better with women making up 19% of the workforce and 60% of the management team. However, there is always room for improvement which is why Intercept IT felt this campaign was so important.
“Even though it’s 2011 and we rely more heavily on IT than ever, women working in technology are still a rare breed. At Intercept IT we are lucky to have women working in every department; IT, sales, marketing, finance and HR but very often we can be the only woman in a meeting or event, ’ says Sara Newman, Head of Service Operations at Intercept IT. She continues,“For anyone it’s important to feel comfortable at work, from being an expert in your chosen subject to what you wear. Being a woman in IT, you can stand out like a sore thumb in certain circumstances so being comfortable right down to your choice of underwear is important!”
The day was a lot of fun for the ladies with the added benefit of learning about how to buy the right style and size for themselves from an online retailer. Vanessa Thompson, Partner Account Manager at Intercept IT, said,“It’s sometimes hard to get to the shops when you’re working all of the time, so online is very handy! I had a great time in hair and make-up, met a great bunch of people and my underwear set is gorgeous – I will definitely be having a look online!”
“It was an absolute pleasure to have the ladies from Intercept IT here at Figleaves.com HQ for the day. They all looked gorgeous and we fully support their ‘Be Bold’ campaign which is so empowering to women. We hope that the campaign helps to raise awareness for women in the IT industry,” Keeley Toomey, Marketing Communications Executive at figleaves.com.
