Offered via NetLearning’s award-winning learning management system (LMS), the courses available will be divided into three categories – Diabetes Disease Management, Advanced Diabetes Disease Management and Diabetes Disease Processes.

The new series of courses, accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) and the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), were designed to teach nurses, registered dietitians, dietitian technicians and pharmacists about diabetes, its signs and symptoms, the physiological disease process, risk factors for developing the disease and treatment options available. Professionals are also taught how to counsel, coach and manage patient contact to ensure improved success with diabetes prevention and maintenance. In addition, the courses will explain how to educate patients about the disease and how to manage it, including lifestyle changes, pharmacological interventions and personal care.

“There are currently 25.8 million people living with diabetes in the United States. That’s 8.3 percent of the population that will need professional care for the disease at some point in their life,” said Will Passano, vice president, NetLearning. “Diabetes is a complex disease that requires specific care and daily management, making it important for healthcare professionals to be knowledgeable of the treatment and care. These new courses from NetLearning were created to be offered via NetLearning’s LMS as a quick and convenient way to fit diabetes education into the busy lifestyle of today’s healthcare workers. The abundance of valuable information, packaged with interactive features and job aids, make these courses a vital part of any healthcare worker’s continuing education.”

Developed by practicing experts, and reviewed by subject matter experts in nursing, dietetics and pharmacy, the courses in this series feature interactive quizzing, printable job aides, case studies,“think about it” questions and case-bound quizzes. These useful features help learners to receive immediate feedback, for on-the-spot learning, and help them to apply the topics learned to real-world situations. Available to both individuals and institutions, each course will take between one and three hours to finish and learners who successfully complete the courses will have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits. The series is divided into the following categories:

• Diabetes Disease Management
o Learning and Behavior Change in Diabetes Management

o Advanced Diabetes Disease Management
