Released ahead of the Tour de France in July, Future’s Cyclingnews.com website has launched a brand new iPhone and IPad app. Built to provide customers with the best live race reporting; the app draws on the expert web content from Cyclingnews.com to give consumers access to updates on the move.
This functionality is available as an in app purchase from the current free Cyclingnews app and is priced at £1.19/$1.99. The app is the latest digital innovation for Future’s Cycling portfolio and is currently installed in over 58,000 devices.
Earlier this month the team launched another digital project aimed at the cycling market; a new customer rewards programme called Daily Deal powered by BikeRadar. Designed to reach consumers in a new way, the Daily Deal is a daily E: alert offering the customer special savings each day on biking products, events and services.
Off to flying start, the Daily Deal already has thousands of consumers signed up, the most popular deal so far being a half price voucher for CYCLES UK where the team saw 100 deals sold in just 10 hours.
Recently awarded ‘Best Digital Publisher – Consumer’ at the Association of Online Publishers awards ceremony, Future continues to invest in all-things-digital. The Daily Deal and Cyclingnews app are strong new additions to its digital offering.
Mark Cantwell, Associate Publisher for Future’s Cycling Portfolio, says: “We have put a lot of work into our digital products this year at Future and the sports portfolio specifically has invested heavily in video and app development as well as improving the user experience on our sites. We’re passionate about cycling and the new live race reporting Cyclingnews app provides consumers with another route to access our market leading content. Combined with the Daily Deal, which allows us to offer our customers more great deals, we are engaging with our customers at all levels and constantly trying to improve the customer experience.”
Future currently produces the UK’s number one paid-for lifestyle app for its T3 magazine. In a recent partnering between Renault and T3, Future produced the world’s first video cover-wrap for an iPad magazine, demonstrating how the company continues to lead the way in digital innovations.
Future (futureplc.com) is a leader in the field of digital publishing and recently won both Consumer Publisher of the Year and the Grand Prix at the annual Association of Online Publishers Awards. Its web and mobile sites deliver 160 million* page impressions every month to over 25 million unique users. Digital now accounts for a third of all Future’s commercial revenues. And its development of video on demand and apps is rightly regarded as market leading. Technology brand T3 is leading the way on iPad, becoming one of the top grossing apps in the UK and one of the very few five star apps in the world. The Future digital portfolio includes award winning and hugely respected brands including: techradar.com, cyclingnews.com, gamesradar.com, cvg.co.uk, musicradar.com and bikeradar.com/.
