Hanover, VA, United States, 2011/06/22 - 3.55 MW installation by RMK Solar of Reading, PA utilizes PV modules from SCHOTT Solar in Albuquerque, NM (Nasdaq-GS: LNCE).
SCHOTT Solar PV, Inc. (SCHOTT Solar) and Reading-based RMK Solar today inaugurated the largest ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar farm in Pennsylvania at Snyder’s-Lance, Inc. The 3.55 megawatt (MW) solar system will generate approximately 30 percent of Snyder’s-Lance’s annual power consumption.
RMK Solar utilized local workers to install the ground-mounted system, which consists of 15,092 SCHOTT POLY® 235 solar panels on approximately 26 acres across from Snyder’s-Lance’s Hanover, PA manufacturing plant. The installation created 12 new jobs. The solar panels were manufactured at SCHOTT Solar’s flagship manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, N.M.
In addition to its cost-saving benefits, the solar installation will significantly help Snyder’s-Lance achieve its environmental goals. Over the course of 25 years, the solar system will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 111,328, 402 miles not driven by an average medium-sized car.
“SCHOTT Solar is proud to be part of the largest ground-mounted solar farm in Pennsylvania,” said Tom Hecht, President and Chief Sales Officer of SCHOTT Solar PV, Inc. “By teaming with RMK Solar, we were able to provide Snyder’s-Lance with high-quality solar panels installed by a team of experts. The end product is a solar farm that will save the customer money over the life of the system, while helping contribute to their environmental goals.”
“RMK Solar is grateful for the opportunity to provide Snyder’s-Lance the largest ground-based solar system in Pennsylvania.“ Explains Rob Kline, President of RMK Solar. “Our employees along with local contractors installed the system on schedule despite difficult weather and challenging conditions.
