Embraer has reached a significant commercial program milestone after concluding recent sales that pushed the number of orders for its E-Jets family of aircraft over the 1,000 mark. The achievement was announced today at a press conference at the 49th Paris Air Show, in France.
The E-Jets family of aircraft is comprised of four models (E170, E175, E190 and E195), with seating capacities ranging from 70 to 120 seats, and has registered over 1,000 orders, as well as some 750 options, from 60 airlines in 40 countries. Since the first aircraft entered revenue service with LOT Polish Airlines in 2004, more than 750 E-Jets have been delivered worldwide.
“This is a truly remarkable achievement when you consider that we reached 1,000 orders just seven years after the first delivery in a segment that is one-third the size of the narrow-body market,” said Paulo César de Souza e Silva, Embraer’s President of Commercial Aviation. “We’re extremely pleased to see our E-Jets helping regional airlines, network and low-cost carriers optimize their operations, develop new markets and substitute old jets with the benefits brought by our state-of-the-art, brand-new family of aircraft.”
Embraer (embraer.com) is the only manufacturer to have designed a family of four new-generation airplanes specifically for the 70- to 120-seat segment. Since the program was formally launched in 1999, the E-Jets have redefined the traditional perception of regional aircraft by operating in a wider range of applications. Today, the aircraft are flying with full-service mainline airlines, low-cost carriers and regional companies. E-Jet customers have configured their aircraft with features usually found on larger airplanes, such as satellite radio, live television entertainment systems and premium class cabins.
The versatility of the E-Jets family is proven in the scope of customer operations. Airlines routinely schedule the EMBRAER 190 on long routes, some exceeding flight times of 5 hours over land and 4.5 hours over water. Both the E170 and the E190 are flying to and from London City Airport (LCY), one of the more challenging airfields in Europe. Low-cost carriers appreciate E-Jets for their short turnaround time on the ground, which maximizes utilization and minimizes unit costs.
E-Jet customers are on every continent, with 22 airlines in Europe & the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), ten in Latin America, ten in Asia Pacific & China, ten in the Middle East & Africa, and eight in North America. Embraer has built a global services and support network that includes five parts warehouses, 27 full flight simulators, eight cabin trainers, and 15 MRO centers.
