JobHintz is a newly released job portal, where users can search for jobs not only by title and location, but also salary requirements. A jobhintz.com user can enter a minimum required salary, and the results will display all jobs that match the pay criteria. This is enabled by Jobhintz’ proprietary database that contains salary information for more than 100,000 jobs. “Our goal is to give applicants more information about jobs they are applying for, and salary information is a critical piece,” says Carla Olson, a General Manager with jobhintz.com.

Based on JobHintz’ proprietary database and additional insider salary information, JobHintz offers Base Salary Hintz™ and Total Pay Hintz™ for select jobs. Base Salary Hintz™ is an estimated base pay range, computed using the database or provided by insiders, whereas Total Pay Hintz™ is an indication of the total compensation. In contrast to Base Salary Hintz™, Total Pay Hintz™ typically includes signing and guaranteed discretionary bonuses, including stock options and grants. “Salary information is the most sought information by job applicants,” says Carla Olson. “Base Salary and Total Pay Hintz™ are our best effort pay estimates, but occasional errors may occur. This is the reason why we built tools that allow JobHintz users to provide feedback on suggested salary and total compensation range, or suggest how much a job pays.”

JobHintz has been designed to foster conversations about jobs. Insiders looking to provide more information about jobs they are familiar with can log in and comment about them. Olson encourages insiders to provide their insights on work content and tasks, overall company and team environment, hiring manager, compensation, candidate selection process and interview questions that would be helpful to candidates seeking employment. In addition, candidates are encouraged to ask questions about jobs they may be interested in and engage in a dialog with insiders, including recruiters and hiring managers. “JobHintz is like Yelp for jobs,” says Olson. “While at Yelp users talk about restaurants and businesses, at JobHintz they discuss jobs, matching insiders who are familiar with them with prospective applicants who are looking to learn more about them.”

For hiring managers and recruiters, there are two options to post jobs on jobhintz.com. The free option requires posting a job that includes base salary and total compensation ranges, and the acceptable spread between base salary minimum and maximum is 50%. In addition, recruiters can post jobs without any salary information for a fee of $95. In both cases, recruiters are asked to provide a quick summary of the job, highlighting the essentials, as well as provide their perspective and insights either about the company or the job itself that may be helpful to potential applicants.

Along with being a conversation portal about jobs, JobHintz (jobhintz.com) is an employment networking site that opens up the social graph of employers and job seekers to identify and recruit qualified candidates. Designed to bring the power of social networking to online career search, JobHintz integrates Facebook Connect, LinkedIn and Twitter to enable employers and applicants to leverage their social graphs. JobHintz recruiters can share their job postings on the social network of their choice, allowing them to spread the word about the posted jobs. In addition, they can solicit information from insiders via social networks. “The deep integration with social networks is a key differentiator in today’s world of online recruiting,” says Olson. “It is important that users can spread the word about jobs in a seamless way, and invite their friends to participate in online conversations about jobs.”
