Abertillery, Blaenau Gwent, United Kingdom, 2011/05/03 - Abertillery-based SteriTouch® has moved to larger premises in order to extend its internal capabilities, with an immediate focus on a Research and Development facility - SteriTouch.com.
The move allows SteriTouch® customers, including Mothercare and Crown Paints, to bring their products to market quicker than before.
SteriTouch® manufactures antimicrobial additives based on the natural sterilising properties of silver, which prevent the growth of mould and harmful bacteria such as MRSA and E.Coli. The additives can be incorporated into almost any material, from plastics to paint and even fabrics.
Investment in an injection moulding machine and an environmental lab has enabled SteriTouch® to create customer samples ready for independent testing, as well as the capability to develop bespoke solutions for a range of customers, such as Welsh companies PHS Washrooms in their hand dryers and A Little Touch of Genius baby products.
SteriTouch® has recently seen a 40% increase in its export sales, from Western brands such as Mothercare manufacturing in China and specifying SteriTouch® additives for their products.
The most recent product to hit the shelves has been Anti-Germ Paint, under the Rust-oleum brand, and the first product containing SteriTouch® to be stocked in B&Q, as part of an exclusive deal with the DIY giant. The paint will reduce the population of bacteria and mould on surfaces by over 99.99%, making it ideal for any interior wall or ceiling in the home, unique in the domestic market.
