The bank is now offering IronKey Trusted Access for Banking to provide clients with a convenient and safe means to conduct online business banking even if the client’s own computer is infested with the worst possible malware.

Cyber criminals have become so effective at hijacking PCs and stealing credentials used by businesses for online banking that the FBI, NACHA, and FFIEC [1] recommend dedicating an isolated computer strictly for this purpose. With Trusted Access, Fairfield County Bank is moving ahead of its competition to provide business customers an online banking experience isolated from financial malware that meets this requirement.

“We’re committed to providing superior, state-of-the-art commercial banking services, including the highest levels of online security,” said Dan Berta, chief operating officer of Fairfield County Bank. “The greatest risk facing commercial online bank customers today is the security of their own PCs and networks. With IronKey Trusted Access we offer our customers a way to conduct online banking on a dedicated, secure and isolated platform that’s convenient for them to use.”

According to the latest reports from the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG), a staggering number of computers – 25 percent – are infected with banking Trojans, password stealers or downloaders capable of installing programs to take over customer PCs.

Dave Jevans, IronKey’s founder and chairman, said,“What makes financial malware threats so dangerous is they go undetected even with up-to-date anti-virus software, firewalls and other software-based security. Fairfield County Bank is further differentiating their client-focused services with Trusted Access, because it isolates clients’ online access in a safe, bank-managed environment that is independent of the PC. That protects online banking customers even if their PC has been compromised with financial malware, including keyboard loggers, man-in-the-browser or ‘backconnect’ Trojans.”

With Trusted Access for Banking, users simply connect their Trusted Access security device to the USB port of their PC computer. Trusted Access automatically launches a protected, virtualized Web browser. The Trusted Access Browser takes the user directly to Fairfield’s website and prevents visiting fake websites introduced by phishing or other scams. To protect users from ever-changing malware, Trusted Access for Banking does not rely on potentially compromised and vulnerable applications on the user’s host computer. Instead, a secure, encrypted connection to online banking is made through the IronKey Trusted Network to lock out man-in-the-middle and DNS address redirect attacks. Advanced encrypted keyboard input protects users from keyloggers while entering authentication credentials and other sensitive data.
