About the event
The increase in federal and state spending in the budget for the financial year 2011-12 stands testimony to the Indian Governments intent on furthering the effectiveness of its eGovernance initiatives across the country. Development, accountability and quick redressal of public grievances are the key focus areas of the government and the implementation of the various schemes under the NeGP.
Even as India realizes its dream of being a world leader in many spheres, the need of the hour remains that the Indian Government maintains its focus on re-innovating and transforming its internal systems of checks and balances. The focus within the various departments of the Government of India has shifted to a paperless, more networked, connected and secure system.
The world over, India has been recognised as the IT Hub; but what is ironic is that various government offices still need to be aligned with global technology advancement. Even though, in the past few years great leaps have been taken to transform government services and public administration across the country; the time has now come to take stock and analyze the standard of an ICT-enabled government and to identify the best means of building eGovernment capacity.
It is at this critical juncture that an interface is felt essential between the Government and Industry. Major challenges such as Inter-operability, technological change, identity management and the need to secure personal information in eGovernment systems need an edge of innovative ideas and industry involvement. Social media, cloud computing, web, and mobile technologies - could be some of the contemporary capabilities that government departments can begin to harness for better results at lower costs. To align all of these, the Industry involvement is now imperative.
The next decade will present its own sets of opportunities but it will also bring its challenges. There is a strong need to anchor the roadmap for the next decade, where the government and the private sector can partner for bringing about a transformation. Governance 2.0 intends to provide a platform for a rich dialogue between Government and Industry Service providers and collaborate in bringing a new e Governance Framework.
Governance 2.0 is a business strategy conference and a knowledge seminar that promises to be an invigorating confluence of the best brains from both government and the industry. It will focus on the practical aspects of strategic delivery of the new Government ICT strategy as well as discuss the technology and business aspects of maximizing efficiency and achieve Value for Money through the deployment of the strategy. This knowledge Seminar seeks to explore how officials from across the government can use the transformative power of technology to deliver new and existing services, enhance public safety and support a 21st century economy at a time when budget constraints have never been more severe.
