Frost & Sullivan is proud to host the annual Growth, Innovation and Leadership (GIL) conference, which brings together a global network of today's best thinkers, visionaries, and thought leaders to deliver fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and practical solutions to accelerate growth. This year's conference is to be held at the Emirates Stadium, London on 17th and 18th May 2011, with the transportation track boasting a number of high profile speakers and panellists set to provide executive insights into the transportation industry.

'Intelligence-on-the-go' will be the focus of the track, providing an insight into fully integrated, multi-modal solutions and new business models for public transport, and specifically considering the role that High Speed Rail, mobility integrators, and hybrid powered buses can play in tomorrow's transportation networks. The conference is a “Must Attend” for individuals and companies looking to generate, evaluate and implement actionable strategies in their market place.

The CEO 360 Degree Perspective on the Global Transportation Industry
Introducing Frost & Sullivan's Transportation Track at GIL 2011 is Vice President and the Head of Automotive & Transportation, Franck Leveque. A recognised transportation expert, Franck is a member of the European Management team, driving consulting best practices and responsible for the expansion of the Transportation sector including Logistics, Rail & Urban Transport, and Intelligent Transport Systems.

With over $9,000 billion due to be invested in transport infrastructure over the next 20 years, the global transportation industry is poised for high growth and synergetic opportunities across a number of industry sectors. Franck will introduce GIL's transportation track by considering the role of the top 10 Mega Trends shaping the future of the transportation industry, the opportunities for technology and mobility companies offering multi modal and interoperable solutions, and associated emerging business models offering integrated mobility solutions.

From High Speed to High Convergence: Future Perspectives of Point to Point Mobility
The first keynote address to delegates at the GIL transportation track will consider the impact of High Speed Rail on integrated mobility solutions. In order to address this key transport phenomenon, Frost & Sullivan are pleased to welcome Martin Ertl, the Chief Innovation Officer of Bombardier Transportation, a global leading rail and transportation systems infrastructure provider. Martin is responsible for the global structuring and holistic innovation management, covering the whole innovation value chain and new business development.

Over 35,000km of new High Speed Rail track will be constructed globally by 2020. This level of growth will in turn fuel the rise and importance of associated support services such as Broadband, retail, and integrating other modes of transport to encourage take up of these high speed services.

Making the Connection: Vision for Fully Integrated and Smart Mobility Solutions
In order to demonstrate recent growth and examples of Integrated and Smart Mobility Solutions, IBM's Intelligent Transport Solutions Global Business Development Leader, John Rushton, will present the first of two growth stories to provide insights into this intriguing area of transportation, and the causal links to other industry sectors that are starting to alert investors beyond transportation.

Technology has helped cities devise fully integrated multi-modal public transport systems that are reliant on far more than just a single mode of transporting passengers and goods from point to point. It has enabled improvements across all modes of transport, from localised bus and train services to active travel (walking and cycling) for short commuting to car-based transport.

Development of Hybrid and Electric Buses for Public Transportation
Dr Mihai Dorobantu of Eaton Corporation will be presenting the second growth story of the GIL Transportation Track, considering the development of Hybrid and Electric buses. The Head of Eaton's Vehicle Technologies and Innovation Team, Dr. Dorobantu is responsible for the advanced R&D portfolio of Eaton's Vehicle Group. The key take-away for delegates is based around alternative power solutions in the transportation industry, and the new types of partnership required in order to realise this potential.

While the societal need for green transportation is self-evident today, the industry has yet to find commercially sustainable solutions. The high cost of alternative power solutions in the bus segment is the barrier to mass market penetration and the still elusive environmental returns. Economically sustainable solutions are in the intersection of technology, regulatory actions, emerging standards and financing actions, but a different technology focus and new partnerships are needed.

The Road Ahead: What are the New Business Models for Future Urban Transport?
In order to conclude the GIL Transportation Track 2011, an interactive panel debate will be held considering new business models that are developing within urban transportation, exploring the potential this could have on several sectors. The debate will be moderated by Franck Leveque, and provide delegates with the opportunity to gain insight from all of the track's speakers, in addition to other delegates, with regard to future urban transportation.

The panel will also include Hannes Rose, Research and Project Leader at Fraunhofer IAO, responsible for the "Mobility Innovation" competence team. Fraunhofer is Europe's largest application-oriented research organization, geared entirely to people's needs: health, security, communication, energy and the environment. Their focus is around shaping innovation and technology towards designing products, improving methods, and industrial techniques.

The remainder of the GIL conference focuses on the dynamics of growth, and various tools and processes you can use to grow your business. The event will allow you to uncover new opportunities for growth within your organisation, and identify structured processes you can leverage to achieve your growth goals, and key strategies you can employ. The conference concentrates on how you can manage innovation to drive sustainable growth within your organisation. With plenty of networking opportunities provided, there is also the opportunity to develop relationships with fellow thought leaders and innovators; essential in delivering fresh perspectives and practical solutions for your business.
