St Albans, United Kingdom, 2005/06/22 - The UK’s largest mixed youth organisation, the Scout Association has awarded a contract to AdVal Learning Solutions (ALS) to develop a further programme of e-learning to its 100,000 adult volunteer members..
The Association has been using ALS e-learning since 2002 when it identified the medium as a means of better serving members whose voluntary status and remote geographic location precluded their attending all courses.
The programme is the fifth in the adult training series Fundamental Values of Scouting.
Delivered on CD-ROM, e-learning brings course content a stage closer to its audiences.
All previous programmes have been well received by the training staff and target audience alike and continued success is anticipated with this new programme.
ALS training designer Howard Jones says: "It’s been a great experience conveying the challenges, activities, enthusiasm and fun of Scouting through the medium of e-learning. Our relationship with the Association has been pivotal in our mutual success."
Melissa Green, programme and development adviser for the Scout Association adds: "The Scout Association always aims to improve the training available, both in terms of content and delivery methods. Our initial foray into e-learning was a big step, but we are pleased with the programmes that have been developed.
"We will continue to use e-learning wherever the medium is appropriate to training course content."
