The MGMA web marketplace offers a wealth of material to its members– from books both print and digital, through educational and certification training tools, to surveys and benchmarking reports. In order to create a complete shopping experience that allows customers to make online purchases, MGMA integrated the Ektron eCommerce system into the Personify™ association management software platform provided by Ektron Technology Partner, TMA Resources. “We take the information contained in the Ektron shopping cart and then through web services that we coded, using the Personify API, we build up an order,” notes Nate Kresse, senior manager of application development for MGMA. “The Personify backend takes care of the order process through PayPal.”
“Ektron also gave the freedom to style the store the way we wanted,” Kresse continues. “We offer a wide range of products, starting with books, through training packages, to webinars, all things that we need to display in different fashions. By using Ektron, we can add the products into the database and once they’re in the system, our marketing group can add content describing those products on their own”
A .NET application, the Ektron eCommerce module utilizes Ektron CMS400.NET customizability to enable integration into IT infrastructures. An open architecture and the Ektron.CMS.Commerce API make any commerce configuration possible and gives organizations the power to tie into back-end systems quickly and efficiently.
