Stevens-Henager College is proud to announce its plans to expand the locations where it offers degree programs and salutes the efforts of the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation’s “Go On Idaho” campaign to encourage more Idahoans to earn a college degree. In addition to the rollout of a TV campaign which supports this effort, Stevens-Henager College is now providing more ways to make education and a better career more accessible to the people of Idaho, which is the clear message behind the foundation’s initiative.
Stevens-Henager College expansion to two more Idaho locations brings its total number of convenient locations to four, including:
Nampa Satellite Campus - This month, Stevens-Henager College opened its newest location, a satellite campus in Nampa. The new satellite campus is necessary due to rapid enrollment growth at the Boise campus. The Nampa campus is 15,000 square feet and is able to serve 500 additional students. There will be a private ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 16 at the satellite campus, with Nampa Mayor Tim Dale doing the honors of cutting the ribbon. The Nampa satellite is enrolling students now and offers programs in Business and Accounting, Graphics, Healthcare. and Information Technology.
Mountain Home College Education Center - As a support location for the Stevens-Henager’s Salt Lake City/Murray online programs, the college will open a College Education Center on December 1 inside the Mountain Home Public Library. The center will serve as a lifeline for students taking classes online. A Stevens-Henager College representative will be available at the center to speak to prospective students about all the available online programs, connect the prospective student with an admissions consultant and financial aid representative, and provide one-on-one support throughout the enrollment process. The center will also offer face-to-face student support services, including tutoring, mentoring, and advising. It will also serve as a place for online students to meet. No programs are offered at the center.
Idaho Falls College Education Center - This College Education Center has served online students in the Idaho Falls area since June 2009. The center is similar to the Mountain Home College Education Center, but on a larger scale, providing support, through a local staff, to online students by facilitating educational activities, social events, and career services. No programs are offered at the center. Recently, the center started offering a “Math for Moms” class. The three-part, complimentary, non-credit class empowers parents to help their children with math homework and to give them the confidence to volunteer in the classroom. In its first year, “Math for Moms” had 40 students and expects to grow in the next session. Class material is aggregated from information provided by the local school district and was spurred on by budget cuts that eliminated teacher's aids in math classes. Stevens-Henager is looking into expanding the class statewide.
Boise Campus - The Boise campus opened in March 2004 and has been flourishing ever since. The campus serves about 750 students, more than half of the total enrollment the college reports in Idaho. Students at the Boise campus can take classes in a traditional, hybrid, or online settings and earn degrees in Business and Accounting, Graphics, Healthcare, Information Technology and Respiratory Therapy. The campus also offers a Bachelor’s completion degree for the already licensed registered nurses.
“At Stevens-Henager College we salute the mission of ‘Go On Idaho’ to encourage all Idahoans to pursue a college degree,” said Shane Reeder, Regional Director of Stevens-Henager College in Idaho. “Today, to help overcome some of the obstacles that prevent people from ‘going on’ we offer traditional, blended, and online degree programs. The opening of the Nampa satellite campus and the Mountain Home College Education Center extends our ability to bring higher education to people’s backyards and to support them in their educational endeavors.”
Stevens-Henager College (stevenshenager.edu) has approximately 1,300 students enrolled in the state of Idaho.
