ACCA recently awarded PowerSeraya Limited top winner of the Singapore Awards for Sustainability Reporting (SASR). This is PowerSeraya’s 2nd consecutive win.
Now into its 9th year, the SASR is an annual award to recognise Singapore companies for their excellence in environmental, social and sustainability reporting. The aim of the award is to identify and reward innovative sustainability reporters, and to encourage the uptake of sustainability reporting.
PowerSeraya has demonstrated transparency, completeness and credibility in the quality of information disclosed during the reporting process. Compared to last year, the company has made conscious efforts to add greater depth to the report by encompassing 6 indicator categories (Economic, Environmental, Society, Labour, Human Rights & Product Responsibility) and relating it to their company strategy, local policies and initiatives. Power Seraya’s Environmental and Sustainability Report 2010 is available online.
Darryl Wee, country head of ACCA Singapore said: “ACCA congratulates PowerSeraya for their outstanding report. The benefits of sustainability reporting can be significant for both the community as well as the company, improving stakeholder and investor relationships and bringing about an improved understanding of non-financial material risks. We hope PowerSeraya’s outstanding report will inspire other organisations to play an increasing part in delivering environmental and social benefits for the community. “
John Ng, Chief Executive Officer of Power Seraya Limited said: “This recognition spurs us on. As a local energy provider, we are committed to environmental stewardship for a sustainable future. Through voluntarily reporting on the environmental performance and practices of the company, we seek to adhere to the highest standards of corporate governance, integrity, and transparency.”
Besides the winner, Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (Pte) Ltd also received commendation for a thorough and informative report.
The SASR award ceremony was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Singapore and was attended by close to 100 business leaders.
