Philadelphia, PA, United States, 2010/10/15 - KSS Architects has hired Rebecca Udell to help continue its strategic expansion into the Philadelphia regional market, particularly in corporate interiors. Udell was formerly president of Floss Barber, Inc.
KSS Architects is excited to welcome back designer Rebecca Udell to its interior design team. KSS strategically hired Udell to help continue its successful expansion into the Philadelphia regional market, particularly in corporate interiors as well as commercial development and higher education.
Udell was the ideal candidate for the position given her in-depth knowledge of the industry and her insight into the Philadelphia market, said KSS managing partner Michael Shatken, AIA, LEED AP.
“KSS Architects produces exceptional design in direct support of our clients’ endeavors,” Shatken said. “With Rebecca’s return, we look forward to bringing the highest level of design and client service to an expanding base of commercial and corporate clients in the Philadelphia region.”
Udell is excited to return to KSS. Although she acknowledges the challenges of the current economic conditions, she believes KSS’ marketing initiative is timely and will be successful.
“Our strengths include a vast knowledge of market-specific information and industry trends, the highest level of service and an end product that results directly from collaboration guided by the client’s best interests,” Udell said. “In addition, and most importantly for me, is the authenticity of KSS’ designers, architects and leadership and the integrity of every project designed, decision made and relationship built.”
Udell previously worked for KSS as a senior interior designer and associate from 1999 to 2004. During her tenure, she designed a number of prominent projects, including executive offices for Cephalon in West Chester, Pa., executive offices for Genmab in Princeton and Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Princeton office of Saul Ewing LLP. She then transitioned to Floss Barber, Inc., an interior design firm based in Philadelphia. As president of Floss Barber, Inc., she designed and managed notable projects such as Woodcock Washburn LLP’s Cira Centre relocation and its Atlanta office, SugarHouse Casino, and Saul Ewing LLP’s Philadelphia and Newark offices.
Udell earned a Master of Business Administration from Temple University’s Fox School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Drexel University. Udell has been a longstanding member on the Board of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Philadelphia and is the current Communications Chair. She lives in Meadowbrook, Pa., with her husband and two sons.
KSS opened its Philadelphia office in 2000, successfully expanding its higher education portfolio by building relationships with local and regional institutions including the University of Pennsylvania, West Chester University, Bryn Mawr College, and Lafayette College. One of KSS’ most recently completed projects is the new Dorrance H. Hamilton Public Media Commons for WHYY, Inc., on 150 N. 6th Street, Independence Mall West, Philadelphia.
