StayinFront, Inc, a leading global provider of enterprise-wide customer relationship management (CRM) software, mobile sales force effectiveness and on-demand CRM solutions, announced that it has been awarded U.S.–EU Safe Harbor Certification status from the U.S. Department of Commerce. This designation recognizes that StayinFront meets or exceeds directives of the European Union for data privacy and protection practices.
The European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection, established in 1998, prohibits the transfer of personal data to nations that do not meet the EU’s “adequacy” standard for privacy protection. The U.S. Commerce department created the Safe Harbor framework in consultation with the Commission, to help U.S.-based companies verify and represent that they meet the EU standard.
Self-certification and participation in the Safe Harbor framework is entirely voluntary. As a company serving numerous clients with interests throughout Europe, StayinFront readily proved compliance with the seven Safe Harbor principles covering notice, choice, transfers to third parties, access, security, data integrity, and enforcement to receive certification.
“Safe Harbor exemplifies StayinFront’s commitment to data security,” says Thomas R. Buckley, Chief Executive Officer at StayinFront. “Both our US and European clients will benefit from the streamlined process for complying with EU standards that this certification affords.”
