Heidenheim, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, 2010/09/16 - At the 2010 IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, Voith Turbo is presenting forward-looking solutions for buses, coaches and trucks under the motto "The Future in Powertrain Solutions". FSE: VO2A
Among the highlights are the new DIWA.6 transmission and the Voith Magnetarder, which is about to enter series production.
Through the advanced development of the proven DIWA citybus transmission, Voith Turbo intends to expand its market share even further. Owing to technical innovations and design improvements, DIWA.6 already complies with the requirements of the Euro 6 Norm, which will come into force in 2014. Additionally, the need-based control of the auxiliary units and an intelligent start-up management ensure fuel savings of up to 5 %. A new housing design reduces noise emissions.
With the Magnetarder, Voith Turbo is presenting the lightest secondary retarder currently available in the market. Weighing a mere 39 kilograms, the Magnetarder reliably brakes coaches and trucks in the 7.5 to 16 ton range. A braking torque of 650 Nm and easy installation into the vehicle are further advantages of this wear-free secondary brake. Mercedes-Benz is offering the Voith Magnetarder as an option in the Atego, which will be on show at the company’s stand at the IAA. IVECO has issued a retrofit approval for the Eurocargo and Anadolu Isuzu is installing the new secondary brake as series equipment in its midibus.
Other engine components on show, such as air compressors and turbocharging systems, starting and braking elements or torsional vibration dampers meet the highest technical demands. In everyday operation they achieve higher availability, and more efficiency, while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
