In a market challenged by tightened budgets, lack of standardization and high customer expectations in terms of flexibility and scalability, Agilent has garnered a sizeable market share through its broad product line that offers high value to customers. 2010 so far has been a successful year for Agilent, as it saw many new product launches that are highly differentiated from competing products.
"Agilent's product line forms an integral part of a design and test engineer's tool kit for debugging and testing applications in a wide range of sectors that include the communications, semiconductor, aerospace/defense, automotive and computer industries," says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst, Vijay Mathew. "The company has achieved success due to its sustained commitment to develop superior and competitive products."
The company's latest products include the Infiniium 90000 X-series oscilloscopes and the V3500A handheld radio frequency (RF) power meter. Each product brings something new and much needed to the microwave test market. The 90000 X-series offers the world's fastest real-time, windows-based oscilloscopes with the highest real-time scope measurement accuracy. Similarly, the V3500A RF handheld power meter with its built-in display and integrated power sensor has a broad frequency range of 10MHz to 6GHz, a wide dynamic range of -63dBm to +20dBm, and absolute accuracy up to ±0.21dB, which makes it an ideal and affordable power measurement solution for installation and maintenance environments, as well as for research and development (R&D) labs.
Agilent has also announced enhancements to the capabilities of its existing microwave product line. The N9923A FieldFox RF Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) provides the best measurement stability in the industry and expands Agilent's handheld instrument portfolio. It is designed for field engineers working in aerospace, defense and network equipment manufacturing, who characterize or troubleshoot RF components for mission-critical communication systems. Similarly, the PNA-X series are the only microwave network analyzers in the industry that correct the effects of imperfect system source match. It offers the industry's highest noise-figure measurement accuracy – 4 to 10 times faster – as well as a 100X improvement in overall test throughput as compared to legacy multi-instrument systems.
The Agilent Nonlinear Vector Network Analyzer (NVNA), based on Agilent's PNA-X network analyzer technology, is the industry's first interoperable measurement and simulation environment for designing nonlinear components. The PXA signal analyzer is the highest-performing member of the Agilent X-Series signal analyzers. The N9030A PXA signal analyzer series, traditionally used to test RF transmitters, with new and advanced measurement applications, tests a variety of signal standards, including LTE-FDD, LTE-TDD, W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA+, DVB-T/H and ISDB-T, in cellular communication and digital video.
"Agilent's new product introductions and enhancements have seen orders and contracts coming in from the electronics and communication industries as clients recognize the company's ability to invest in leading-edge test and measurement solutions in addition to its uncompromising commitment to quality control," says Mathew. "The company's proactive initiatives to reduce the costs associated with its products and services have helped to build stronger customer relationships."
Client interaction and feedback is an integral part of Agilent's growth strategy. The company is also very adept at using forums and trade shows, such as the IEEE MTT 2010 International Microwave Symposium, for showcasing its expertise in strategic target markets. Agilent specializes in anticipating and responding to evolving technologies and standards in the dynamic communications industry. Developing future-ready architecture is a concept that is well-entrenched into Agilent's product innovation strategies, thereby ensuring its products are scalable with breakthrough technologies of the future and providing its customers the highest value for their money.
Besides outstanding and customer-centric products, Agilent provides related benefits that include start-up assistance, instrument productivity and application services, and instrument calibration and repair. Customization, consulting and optimization services are also offered by the company throughout the customer's product lifecycle. All these specific add-on benefits allow the company to provide superior levels of customer satisfaction, ensuring its long-term leadership in the market.
Based on the aforementioned achievements, Frost & Sullivan is proud to present the 2010 Global Microwave Test Equipment Product Line Strategy of the Year Award to Agilent Technologies. Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed a comprehensive product line that caters to the breadth of the market it serves. The award recognizes the extent to which the product line meets customer base demands and the overall impact it has in terms of customer value.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
