Francesca Tedesco, former public affairs director at Pfizer Inc., joins APCO Worldwide's health care team as a vice president, Washington, D.C., Managing Director Robert Schooling announced today.
"Francesca's deep understanding of the biologics market, particularly vaccines, builds on our strengths," said Schooling. "We are excited to have her on board, and we're confident that her hands-on experience in managing and directing public affairs and communication strategies will benefit our clients in this sector."
As director for Pfizer's Specialty Care public affairs division, Tedesco was responsible for developing public affairs strategies for the vaccine, infectious disease, oncology, ophthalmology and endocrine product teams. She oversaw efforts to implement product marketing strategies and create engaging experiences designed to promote awareness. Prior to her promotion to director, Tedesco was a customer business unit manager, where she helped develop marketing strategies and tactics to drive product access.

Tedesco joins an experienced team of health care experts at APCO, including: Tim Cost, former senior vice president, corporate affairs, for Wyeth; Bill Pierce, former deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services; Wayne Pines, former associate commissioner for public affairs at the Food and Drug Administration; Courtney Piron, former director in the economic and policy research group, a division of corporate affairs at Pfizer Inc.; Kirsten Thistle, expert in communication and ally development on science and health issues; and Dr. Ken Thorpe, professor and chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at Emory University.
Prior to her tenure at Pfizer, Tedesco was a consultant for Campbell Alliance, where she conducted and analyzed market research with key decision-makers from pharmaceutical sales channels on changes and trends in the health care marketplace. She also spent several years working on health care issues for U.S. Congressman Amo Houghton (R-N.Y.).
Tedesco served as vice president of conferences for the Stern Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association while pursuing a Master of Business Administration at New York University's Stern School of Business.
