Nueterra Healthcare, one of the country’s leading developers and managers of physician-owned surgical facilities, today announced that six of its facilities are among the winners of the 2010 Apex Quality Award, which is awarded by the independent research firm CTQ.
“We are honored to once again have Nueterra facilities recognized as being among the best in the country,” said Nueterra Healthcare CEO David Ayers. “Receiving the Apex Quality Award is a testament to the dedication of our employees to the physicians and patients they serve.”
The award, which is only given to the highest performing health care facilities, recognizes providers for their excellence in patient satisfaction and loyalty attributes. The six Nueterra winners are:
• Marysville Ohio Surgical Center in Marysville, Ohio
• Minnesota Valley Surgery Center in Burnsville, Minn.
• Pediatric Surgery Center in Plano, Texas
• Physicians Surgery Center at DePaul in Bridgeton, Mo.
• Sedalia Surgery Center in Sedalia, Mo.
• Surgical Institute of Reading in Wyomissing, Penn.
To receive the award, each facility must:
• Fall within the top 10 percent of its peers’ overall score average
• Meet a minimum threshold response for surveys returned during the past year by facility type
• Measure a minimum number of key performance indicators selected by CTQ.
Nueterra uses CTQ as its third-party collector of patient satisfaction data because the company is accepted as an unrelated third-party for Medicare and other payers, and is the clinical benchmarking arm of Physician Hospitals of America. Using the CTQ system, patient satisfaction data is formatted to facilitate easy analysis of the data and provide immediate warnings of problems to managers.
Patient satisfaction surveys are important because future reimbursement will be tied, in part, to the scores. Medicare currently ties some payment levels in hospitals to the reporting of quality data. Commercial health plans are moving in this direction as well.
Since 1997, Nueterra Healthcare (nueterrahealthcare.com) has provided development and management services for hospitals, surgery centers, physical therapy centers, and medical real estate. Nueterra Healthcare is part of Nueterra Companies, a diversified health care, financial services and real estate company that owns and manages more than 90 surgical and outpatient facilities in 28 states across the U.S.
