Brookline, MA, United States, 2005/06/13 - Asuret is an independent consulting firm that helps IT buyers reduce the risks in enterprise software implementations. Asuret's Crisis Intervention service is specifically designed to address issues on troubled implementations.
“When a big IT project gets out of control, it's tempting to shut the whole thing down and write off a multi-million dollar investment,” says Asuret CEO Michael Krigsman. “But often a fresh outside perspective can rescue a 'nightmare project' and get the budget and schedule back on track. That's the premise behind the IT crisis intervention service we've just launched, and we think it's going to help a good many companies that need to turn around troubled projects.”
Krigsman points out that 30% to 70% of enterprise software implementations encounter significant problems, often resulting in cost overruns and major cutbacks in features and deployment. “A much smaller percentage of projects become real crisis situations that can badly disrupt a company's overall operations. In the worst case, you end up with a high-profile lawsuit that drags on for years,” he notes.
Crisis situations tend to paralyze a company's internal decision-making systems, Krigsman adds. “Almost always, the best way to get a troubled project moving again is to bring in an outside turnaround expert—someone who has no turf to defend and who can look at the situation objectively. The people who specialize in turnarounds are especially skillful at identifying root causes of problems and then figuring out a strategy to rescue the situation.”
The Asuret crisis intervention service draws on the talents of two senior-level IT turnaround managers, Linda Fraser and Doug Rainville.
Linda Fraser is a well-known expert in troubleshooting large-scale IT projects for Fortune 50 companies, including General Motors, Eastman Kodak, IBM, Halliburton, and Anheuser-Busch. Recently, Linda headed a team at SAP that was responsible for implementations at the company's 25 largest strategic accounts. She also managed Digital Equipment Corporation's European manufacturing operations and handled ERP implementations for Deloitte & Touche.
Doug Rainville is a veteran turnaround manager and financial consultant who specializes in middle-market companies. His experience includes CEO-, COO- and CFO-level assignments with firms in a variety of industries, where he restructured business operations around key business drivers to restore profitability and shareholder value. As managing director of NachmanHayesBrownstein, a nationwide crisis management and turnaround practice, Doug was involved with mergers, acquisitions, and business asset sales. He is a co-founder and board member of the Northeast Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and former board member of the Boston Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.
“Linda and Doug have been dealing with troubled business problems for most of their careers,” says Krigsman. “You can trust them to find a way to resolve the most difficult IT log jams.”
