EnerSys (NYSE: ENS), the world's largest manufacturer, marketer, and distributor of industrial batteries, today announced the appointment of a new member to its Board of Directors. Seifi Ghasemi accepted the appointment to join the Board on July 12, 2010.
Mr. Ghasemi has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Rockwood Holdings Inc., which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, since March 2001. Prior to that he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GKN Sinter Metals and as a board member of GKN, plc from 1997 to 2001. From 1987 to 1997 he was employed by BOC Gases, serving as President of BOC Gases, Americas from 1993 to 1997 and was a member of the board of directors of BOC Group, plc from 1995 to 1997. Mr. Ghasemi received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Abadan Institute of Technology in Abadan, Iran and his Masters in Science in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.
