Perceptive Software, creator of enterprise content management software including ImageNow, announces its successful participation in Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Connectathon, held in Boardeaux, France.
IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals and industry to improve the way computer systems in healthcare share information and automate workflow. IHE promotes the coordinated use of established standards such as DICOM , HL7 and web services to address specific clinical needs in support of optimal patient care. Systems developed in accordance with IHE communicate with one another better, are easier to implement, and enable care providers to use information more effectively. IHE’s Cross Enterprise Document Sharing profile (XDS) directly impacts healthcare providers by enabling them to become "meaningful users" of information technology by demonstrating the ability to exchange clinical information with other providers within and across healthcare organizations.

ImageNow plays a few roles in IHE that involve content creation, content storing and content sharing. First, because ImageNow can capture content from various sources, ImageNow can be what IHE calls a “document source”, which allows the solution to share documents with other IHE repositories. Second, ImageNow can also be what IHE considers a “document repository", which means ImageNow can receive content from other IHE source systems and make that content available for authorized access.
IHE representatives at the Connectathon approved ImageNow for IHE standards after passing Connectathon testing earlier this month.
