You can experience at first hand how ABB defines accuracy and speed by watching "The Fanta Can Challenge" live in the booth. The movie of the system has already aroused a considerable amount of interest with over 215,000 views on the ABB Robotics YouTube channel. Superior motion control by three IRB 140 robots enables two metal pins to move at high speed between twelve Fanta cans positioned just 1mm apart thus demonstrating the precise synchronization, accuracy and repeatability of the robots at high speed. Also on display will be the world’s most accurate 6 axis robot. The IRB 120 is ABB’s smallest ever robot with a positional repeatability of better than 0.01mm. Brimming with benefits, whilst weighing in at only 25kgs, this robot arm is truly the most portable and effortless to integrate without any restrictions on mounting.

With a payload of up to 3kg (4kg with its wrist down) and with a reach of 580mm the IRB 120 robot has best in class stroke and the ability to reach 112mm below its base. With the IRB 120 comes the new IRC5 Compact controller offering the capabilities of the extremely powerful IRC5 controller in a truly compact format. Delivering space saving benefits and easy commissioning through single phase power input and weighing in at just 27.5kgs, it utilizes many of the well known features of the IRC5 controller with familiar programming and operation, ensuring no additional training is required.
Process efficiency, integrated solutions, improved working conditions.
Integration is one of the key factors in providing manufacturers with efficient processes. ABB will exemplify this by showing a live demo of a fully integrated gluing robot that generates a perfect seam quality independent of the speed of the robot. Another highlight will be a Force Control cell with an IRB 6660 showing the grinding, polishing and cleaning of a kayak. This will demonstrate the possibility to optimize productivity and surface quality by programming off-line, using ABB’s award winning RobotStudio simulation software. It also illustrates how ABB robots are helping to elevate the nature of work by removing people from dirty, dull and dangerous working environments.
