Clenergen corporation OTC BB (CRGE) signs contract with Ankur Energy technologies private limited with exclusive rights to supply gasifiers for conversion of wood chips to carbon neutral electricity.
Clenergen Corporation signed a supply contract with Ankur Energy Technologies Private Limited for Ankur to build andinstall turnkey gasification biomass power plants, known as gasifiers, at designated sites in the Philippines whichClenergen is to install, own and manage pursuant to an agreement Clenergen entered into earlier this year with the National Power Corporation of The Philippines. The gasifiers will convert wood chips into carbon-neutral electricity. Thesupply contract also provides for Ankur to supply other proposed plants Clenergen intends to install, own and manage inits global operations, including those plants subject to exclusive sales and distribution rights in Guyana, Ghana, Zambia,Ethiopia and Libya. Clenergen also has been preferential delivery and pricing arrangements for its projects originating frothe Philippines, Russia and South Africa.
Ankur has over 900 installations in 21 countries. Traditionally, Ankur specialises in small power plant projects of between 250 and 500 KW/h; however over the last two years, Ankur has seen increase demand for 1 to 2 MW/h plants. Each 1 MW/hr of generating capacity is sufficient to supply electricity to between 10,000 households (lights only) and7,000 households (if including lights and a fridge). The gasifer are competitively priced and produce on average 25%more generating power than traditional combustion steam biomass power plants. Units can be installed andcommissioned within six to eight months from the date of placement of order.
The type of gasifier to be used under the supply contract is known as an Imbert (or Throated) Fixed-Bed Downdraft Gasifier. Clenergen believes that this type of gasifier inherently produces gas with the lowest tars and particulates of all the biomass gasifier designs, making it well-suited for power-generation. The fuel-gas product is easyand inexpensive to clean and cool for use in the engines that drive the power-generators.
Ankur conforms to the world-class ISO Standards for Safety (ISO 18001), Environmental (ISO 14001) and Quality Management (ISO 9001).
It is believed that The Ankur system has little negative environmental impacts as the solid waste is a non-toxic charcoalashmixture that is suitable for re-use in the plantations as a soil conditioner or for “terra-preta” agricultural practices. The water used to scrub and cool the gas is treated in a closed-loop system to remove the condensed tar, with zeroeffluent from the plant. The tar captured by the filters, together with the tar from the water, are recycled to the gasifier for thermal cracking into product gas.Mark Quinn, Chief Executive Officer, said “Ankur’s proven gasification technology is a turnkey solution for providing off grid electricity to rural communities throughout the regions where we are cultivating biomass crops as a source of fuel supplies for energy generating plants. We believe that Ankur has an excellent track record and manufacturing facilities,as well as provides adequate warranties on all equipment supplied. The carbon neutral process will provide for Reduction of Certificates Emissions (RECS) of which are estimated at 6000 Metric tonnes per MW per annum.”
