Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced today that it has sold a total of 63,837 units in the year ended March 31, 2010, a 36% jump when compared to 2008-’09.
A total of 6905 vehicles were sold in March 2010 as against 3634 vehicles during the same period last year, recording an increase of 90% making it the highest monthly sales for the year.
Mr. Sandeep Singh, DMD, TKM commented on sales in March: “Apart from customer confidence in our products, the increase in sales for the month of March can also be attributed to the hike in prices that have come into effect from April 1, 2010 because of increase in input costs, the implementation of EURO IV and the increase in local road tax and local sales tax.”
Cumulative sales for the period January to March 2010 stands at 18,887 units, recording an increase of more than 100% over the same period last year.
The Fortuner which was launched in the latter half of 2009 has seen an overwhelming response, and with the increased availability of vehicles has registered record sales of 1095 units in the month of March. And, in the case of the recently launched Prius, deliveries have commenced with 24 cars sold in the very first month.
