Openet, the leading provider of Transactional Intelligence for the world’s largest and most innovative network service providers, has been ranked among top policy management solution providers in a report by Infonetics Research. The report, entitled “Policy Servers: Biannual Worldwide and Regional Market Share, Size and Forecasts,” finds that policy management capabilities are critical in both the wireless and cable markets, with more revenue generated by wireless deployments. This shift is expected to continue, with wireless sales driving 60 percent of policy revenue in 2009, a trend that is expected to continue through 2014.
With a two-year-old policy management product, Openet garnered 9 percent market share of the global policy server market in 2009 through deployments with Tier 1 service providers around the globe. This quick traction showcases the superiority of Openet’s products, expertise and solution delivery capabilities.
“Wireless represents a definite growth opportunity for the policy server market, as mobile operators look to alleviate the strain on their 3G networks and position themselves to monetize the value of their 4G deployments,” said Shira Levine, Directing Analyst, Next Gen OSS and Policy at Infonetics Research. “This is creating significant opportunities for vendors in this space that are well-positioned in the wireless market.”
Additionally, the report identifies 3G expansions and mobile data drivers for the deployment of policy solutions, with WiMAX and LTE deployments expected to play a significant role in market growth. Openet, which Infonetics ranks second in the wireless policy market with 14 percent market share, is already engaged for next-generation policy deployments.
“The demand for policy capabilities is already high—and still rising," said Mike Manzo, CMO at Openet. "With 3G expansions already underway and more on the horizon, policy management is critical to the success of managing traffic and providing subscriber controls for these networks. Openet has garnered significant traction after only two years in the market, as opposed to long-standing legacy players whose position has changed little in the past year. Openet's momentum in policy sales is growing exponentially as our customers seek to gain greater control over, and revenue from, their networks.”
