The Pascua Yaqui Tribe, owners of Sol Casinos (Casino of the Sun and Casino Del Sol), is proud to announce the groundbreaking of the new Sol Casinos Hotel and Convention Center. The ceremony will take place at 3 pm. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the site adjacent to the south end of Casino Del Sol in Tucson. Tribal Council members and government dignitaries, Pascua Yaqui Tribal Members, state and local government officials, casino management, employees and guests as well as construction management personnel will be on hand for this special event.
The multi-million dollar expansion designed by Phoenix-based Leo A. Daly and built by Tempe-based McCarthy Building Companies (mccarthy.com) is slated for completion in the fall of 2011. The project will bring hundreds of new jobs to the community, both during the construction phase and to support the ongoing operation of the expanded facility.
The new Sol Casinos Hotel and Convention Center will add 215 luxury hotel rooms to the market along with a conference center that can accommodate 1,500 in performance and theatrical configurations or up to 800 for dining configurations. The expanded facility will also feature a fine dining steakhouse with seating up to 100, an international buffet with seating up to 250, a lobby lounge and bar, a fully equipped exercise facility with full service spa, an outdoor pool and sundeck and a 1,120 car multi-level protected parking structure.

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe is a federally recognized tribe with over 15,000 enrolled members. The reservation is located in southwest metropolitan Tucson. The Tribe owns and operates two casinos: Casino of the Sun and Casino Del Sol. Non-gaming enterprises include the Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater, a 5,000-seat open-air concert venue, and the Del Sol Marketplace, which includes a gas station and car wash, convenience store, and smoke shop.
