St Louis, MO, United States, 2006/06/30 - CMP University provides an online certificate course for entrepreneurs and marketing professionals to gain immediate and applicable marketing knowledge and information.
Eight years ago Michael Daehn had a dream to create his own online course. “I was working for Hope International University coordinating the online MBA program,” said Daehn. “Students were taking classes from all over the world, which I thought was incredible. Some of the professors were teaching from foreign countries, too; it seemed so futuristic.”
Online education has come a long way since then. “When I was coordinating the MBA program, everything was done by email. Web-based applications and interaction online was just getting started,” said Daehn. “Now sound, video, chat rooms and discussion boards are all available.”
When deciding which online course to put together, Daehn saw a need for a marketing certification. “I have been teaching online for about five years. Traditional education is great, but not everyone has the time or finances for that type of degree program,” he said. “The Certified Marketing Professional course is a condensed version of what I used to teach as a marketing professor in the classroom. The information is concise and immediately applicable for participants.” One of the requirements to gain certification is to write a marketing plan. “Graduates have a tangible plan in their hand that they can use right away to take their business to the next level.”
There are many do-it-yourself books and seminars on marketing available these days, but Daehn felt they lacked continuity. He explained, “I have learned a great deal from self-study, but because of my academic and curriculum designing background, I see the drawbacks of following random ideas that are circulating. You are usually getting bits and pieces, but not a complete understanding of the whole marketing process. Most people learn about promotional exercises like creating ads or writing brochures, but these are ineffective without a sound strategy behind them.”
CMP University is launching with a group of Beta Testers on July 7th, 2006 and will be available to the public in August of 2006. “I have a phenomenal group of Beta Testers that have volunteered to help me perfect the course before going live later this summer,” said Daehn. “If this course had been available when I was younger, I would have taken this and saved the $30,000 in student loans.”
CMP University is currently in Beta mode, but accepting applications for courses starting in August.
