Analysts are predicting a return to growth in the storage market in 2010. Projects that were deferred in 2009 will be implemented in 2010, because the installed base of systems is aging, expensive to maintain, and running out of available capacity. Increased adoption of server virtualization software from VMware, Citrix and Microsoft, will drive both networked storage demand and the need for higher levels of storage system availability. While storage efficiency has lagged server efficiency, unified storage brings the storage administrator the same efficiency and ease-of-administration benefits that server virtualization has brought server administrators.
