Aurora, CO, United States, 2010/01/27 - Naxcer Composites Group is a premier provider of advanced composite products and engineered armor solutions with manufacturing techniques to deliver cost effective composite products and armor solutions with superior ballistic performance.
Naxcer Composites Group, specializing in new manufacturing technologies for composite materials is announcing the development of its new armor system.
This armor system is the result of significant product development efforts by Naxcer Composites Group and its partners. “Our goal was to define an armor system that allows Naxcer to present a solution for a large array of threat profiles for a large array of industry applications,” said Peter Madsen, COO of Naxcer Composites Group. “Naxcer Armor Systems have been developed for a large array of ballistic solutions. We have technologies to mitigate threats from basic hand guns to very large caliber military threats.”
“The expected applications for this armor system design were very focused on lightweight designs for use in aerospace applications, like Helicopter and Fixed Wing applications, Marine Environments and Land Applications for Personal Vehicles and Military Transport,” commented Andrew Chumney CEO of Naxcer Composites Group.
Naxcer Composites Group has developed a novel manufacturing process using with aramid (Kevlar®) fibers. This process significantly reduces the cost of the Naxcer Armor System and ballistic products while achieving the same or better performance than Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE or sometimes shortened to UHMW), also known as high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE) or high-performance polyethylene (HPPE), and commercially known as Dyneema® or Spectra®.
Naxcer Composites Group has conducted significant testing on E-Glass and S-Glass materials for hybridized ballistic solutions resulting in lower than industry area weights for comparable ballistic performance. Additionally, the company has tested many of the known ceramic based solutions in combination with its aramid (Kevlar®) based solutions achieving a high performance ballistic solution. Finally, the company has conducted research on steel and alumina strike face armor designs with aramid spall liners to be used in vehicle armor applications.
“The company utilizes the Lean Six Sigma design methodologies to ensure a superior product at reduced costs,” according to Peter Madsen, COO of Naxcer Composites “Whether creating a fishbone of the customer requirements process or using Design For Six Sigma, (DFSS) our focus is on creating a culture of, correct first time development and continuous improvement through the application of Lean, Six Sigma and SPC to ensure our customer’s products get to market right,” Peter continued. These methodologies are combined with using best of breed, proven solutions for the design of the lightweight armor to providing high mobility and greater surface area protection.
