Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, 2010/01/15 - PIKA Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of media-processing hardware and software, has added a new member to its management team, Louis Payant, Head of Product Development.
PIKA Technologies is proud to welcome Mr. Payant, with his more than 35 years of expertise in the creation of telecommunication solutions for the enterprise and software development leadership and methodology for emerging companies.

As Head of Product Development, Payant is responsible for the overall management of R&D, which includes hardware, software, and product verification. He is also responsible for the newly formed Applications Engineering Group, which focuses on the creation of applications that compliment PIKA’s telephony board and WARP appliance product lines.
Prior to PIKA Technologies, Payant recently held the role of CTO and VP of R&D and N-able Technologies. Before that, he founded Norlite Technology in 1986 (call centre technology) and Vienna Systems in 1996. Both companies were focussed on the creation of VoIP solutions that included gateways, call processing servers and peripherals. Vienna was then acquired by Nokia in 1998, where Louis continued on with the dual responsibility of General Manager and Vice President of the Ottawa Nokia Product Centre. Payant has held other development roles at Mitel Corporation, Communications Research Center, CAE and Comterm Inc.
Payant holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Ottawa and an Masters of Science from the University of Toronto both in Computer Science with a primary focus in Software Engineering.
