London, United Kingdom, 2009/11/09 - Digital creative agency Collective today announces the official website for the launch of a UK first – the exclusive precision-engineered and custom-built Civic Type R MUGEN, only 20 of which will be built for the UK market.
The media-rich and social media friendly site offers car enthusiasts the rare opportunity to see the Civic Type R MUGEN in action as well as sharing all the key information on their social networks.
Honda has teamed up with its fine-tuning ‘sister’ company MUGEN to develop the Civic Type R MUGEN especially for UK roads. With a 240ps 2.0 engine, a higher power to weight ratio and a 10 per cent increase in torque, the Honda Civic Type R has been transformed. It is the first MUGEN-tuned engine ever to be available in the UK.
The 20 versions of the Civic Type R MUGEN will be delivered in Championship White – the colour of Honda’s first ever Formula One car.
MUGEN has been trackside since it was founded in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda, son of Honda founder Soichiro. Today, MUGEN is still at the forefront of building and tuning Honda engines for motor racing.
Jonny Freeman, digital marketing manager of Honda UK, says: “The Civic Type R MUGEN is an astonishing feat of engineering and one that a select few in the UK will have the joy of driving. Collective has captured that excitement on this elegant site that all enthusiasts can enjoy.”
Greg Doone, Managing Director of Collective, comments: “Sharing knowledge is crucial for exclusive car enthusiasts and the MUGEN site delivers that flexibility. We’ve produced a site that captures the racing heritage and niche speciality of this car with rich video, flash animations and sharing capabilities that enthusiasts will love.”
MUGEN (translation: “without limits”) was founded in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda, son of Honda founder Soichiro. From 1991–2000, MUGEN built Formula 1 engines for Tyrrell, Ligier, Prost and Jordan teams. MUGEN now supplies engines for JAS Motorsport for their customer rally cars. MUGEN also prepares Honda NSX customer cars for the Super GT Championship, Formula 3, the Japan Le Mans series and Formula Nippon the 24 Hours Nürburgring.
