Public Communications/Worldwide (PC/W), one of the oldest independent public relations and marketing communications firms in California, has named Susan van Barneveld, APR, as its new president, effective May 1. Her strategic message development and her numerous creative campaigns for clients have earned her numerous prestigious awards. She brings over 20 years of exceptionally diverse public relations and marketing experience to her new role.
“I am so happy and proud to name Susan president of PC/W,” stated John van Barneveld, PC/W founder and now chairman emeritus. “She has the experience, talents and foresight to effectively guide the company and position it as a public relations and marketing communications leader. Equally, I am as proud as any father would be in seeing his child not only be successful in her chosen career, but willing to step in and run a long-held family business. I have nothing but confidence in her abilities.”
Susan van Barneveld returns to PC/W after an eight-year stint as co-founder and CEO of Antarra Communications. During her tenure, she designed comprehensive marketing programs, supervised accounts and guided strategic direction. She also directed the creative services and online development divisions and oversaw international growth of the company. Through her extensive knowledge of information technology systems she created an award-winning media technology house that developed complex database-driven websites and new media campaigns alongside traditional marketing programs.
Her past and current account responsibilities include: Sony, Panasonic, BenQ, Memorex, Shuttle Computers, Nextar, Eviant, Ritek and the Fairchild Corporation (NYSE: FA). Ms. van Barneveld is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and was a co-chair of the 1999 International Public Relations Conference in Anaheim, CA. She is currently a member of the Counselors Academy and a 2009 PRSA National Assembly Delegate at Large.
“I am truly excited to return to my roots,” said Susan. “I literally grew up watching my father build PC/W into an international powerhouse in the field of public relations. It will be a challenge to uphold and build upon his many accomplishments, but I feel confident that PC/W will continue to thrive and set the pace for innovative, leading-edge public relations and marketing communications programs.”
