West Bend, WI, United States, 2009/09/22 - Pick Heaters, Inc. will be featuring its award winning Direct Steam Injection (DSI) Heaters at the 2009 Worldwide Food Expo in Chicago, IL from October 28-31, 2009. Visit the Pick Heaters Booth #S3234 to learn more about how Direct Steam Injection.
Pick Heaters developed and patented the first direct steam injection heater in 1945 - the Constant Flow model. Subsequently, the company introduced Variable Flow, 3A Sanitary and Pilot Scale models.
Pick DSI injects steam into any water miscible liquid or aqueous slurry through small orifices in the injection tube. The result is hot water or liquid on demand at precisely controlled temperatures. Touted for their cost effectiveness, these heaters utilize 100 percent of the available energy, resulting in energy savings up to 28 percent.
Pick Heaters are quiet, compact and customized to fit clients’ unique situations. You’ll find them in labs and processing plants worldwide in applications from jacketed heating to in-line cooking. They can provide precise temperature control in ranges as low at 1ºC.
Pick Heaters (pickheaters.com) was the first manufacturer to be awarded the prestigious 3A symbol for its full line of Sanitary Steam Injection Heaters. These heaters also meet FDA and USDA requirements.
The Pick Sanitary Heater injects steam directly into food products, achieving instant transfer of energy. This compact system heats, cooks or sterilizes dairy products, starches, purees, juices, sauces and other water miscible products on a continuous straight-through basis. It can process slurries including bite-size pieces without damage to product texture or consistency. Uniform heat treatment improves product quality and eliminates burn-on and costly maintenance. It can also be used to heat CIP solutions and inject nitrogen into mayonnaise, edible oils and similar products for improved shelf life.
Pick can package a compact, engineered, turnkey sanitary system for use in laboratory or pilot scale operations. These systems are rated for capacities from 150 pounds of steam per hour and liquid flows as low as ½ gallon per minute. “This system enables researchers to see first hand how they can improve their product by making changes to the process,” said Michael Campbell of Pick Heaters.
The Pick Sanitary Heating Systems come fully assembled and frame mounted, ready for operation. Made of 316 stainless steel, the Pick Sanitary System features clamp-style fittings for fast, easy disassembly and cleaning. Systems are available in 10 standard sizes for liquid flow rates up to 5,000 gpm, and steam flow rates up to 10,000 lb/hr.
