Dallas, TX, United States, 08/25/2009 – Shermco Industries, a leading provider of rotating machinery testing, repairing and remanufacturing as well as power systems maintenance and electrical damage restoration services, announced its schedule of training classes available in September 2009. Classes include preparation for code exams, in-depth hands-on electrical safety training for meeting OSHA electrical safety training requirements and the new 2009 NFPA 70E, as well as hands-on training programs for the maintenance and testing of electrical power system devices and systems.
Cable Splicing and Termination of Medium-Voltage Cables – 9/1
This is a technical and practical hands-on program which encompasses the procedures and methods for the proper splicing and termination of medium-voltage cables. By exposing the student to both classroom and lab session, the student learns both the technical and practical requirements of modern cable construction, repair and termination.
National Electric Code 2008 – 9/2
Designed for anyone who needs to use the NEC effectively, this three-day training program is especially useful if you are preparing for your Code exam. Learn your weaknesses before you take the exam and learn what you need to pass. The course covers the ICC block exams used by the State of Texas in all jurisdictions. Each attendee will receive a copy of the current NEC and the new 2008 NEC will be covered when it is issued.
Electrical Safety for Qualified Electrical Workers – 9/9
Expanded to allow more time for hands-on lab sessions, this 20-hour electrical safety program meets OSHA’s mandated electrical safety training requirements for becoming a qualified electrical worker. Designed for electrical workers and others who may perform energized electrical work above 50 volts in industrial and commercial facilities, including medium-voltage switchgear and other utilization equipment, each attendee receives a copy of the NFPA 70E for future reference.
Programmable Logic Controllers – 9/14
A hands-on training course designed to provide electricians, maintenance personnel and plant engineers with the basic information on programmable logic controllers, as well as maintenance and troubleshooting techniques necessary to keep these products running.
Basic Electrical Technical Skills – 9/14
This 4-day training program is for new electrical workers. Electron theory or other basic electricity is not taught. Rather, this course teaches specific skills and knowledge required by new electrical workers.
Low and Medium-Voltage Circuit Breaker Maintenance - 9/21
This course covers theory, construction, operation, trouble shooting and control circuits for 480V to 15,000V air-magnetic & vacuum circuit breakers. Learn what tests to do and how to interpret the results. Students disassemble a wide variety of circuit breakers, perform maintenance, reassemble breakers, then test during the hands-on labs.
Electrical Safety for Managers – 9/28
This one-day course answers the questions and needs of supervisors, managers and engineers who are responsible for or supervise electrical workers. Learn what your exposure is in the event of an accident; what is required of you and how to protect your company and your workers. This program offers solutions to those who are concerned about what is needed to show OSHA "Good Faith Effort", limit fines and liability, and ensure a safe work site. Each attendee will receive a copy of "The Electrical Safety Program Handbook" for future reference.
