TekTegrity, Inc., (tektegrity.com) a San Luis Obispo-based IT strategies and management company, has expanded its product and service portfolio to include hosted virtual servers.
Instead of buying and configuring a new server, TekTegrity’s new service allows customers to simply pay a monthly fee for a virtual server customized to their needs, complete with TekTegrity’s proprietary Total Systems Management managed services support.
TekTegrity CEO Russ Levanway says the service offers entry-level systems for small businesses scaling all the way up to hosted e-commerce, e-mail, and database servers for larger organizations. “As your needs grow, storage space, additional memory, and processor speed can be dynamically increased without any need to shut down your system for maintenance,” Levanway says. He explains that the virtual servers are hosted in an “enterprise-class datacenter environment” in order to ensure uptime of 99.999%. The service even protects against interruptions of service due to hardware failures because, he says, “Our virtual server environment will dynamically replace resources that fail.”
TekTegrity’s virtual hosted server pricing is unique in the industry; much like other utility bills that a typical business pays, customers pay a start-up fee for the virtual hosted server, and then a monthly maintenance fee. This system, Levanway says, “allows you to pay a fraction of the [typical] cost to set up and maintain your own server.” He estimates that the average customer can reduce their capital costs and maintenance fees by 40% or more.
Levanway cites energy savings as another major benefit of switching to a virtual hosted server. “TekTegrity’s virtual hosted servers allow your company to be greener and more efficient by preventing un-used resources from using electricity. With a fraction of the power consumption of a typical server,” he says, “you will drastically reduce CO2 emissions for every server you virtualize.”
