United Staffing Associates’ Vice President of HR/Operations Jeannine Young recently received the 2009 Suggs Distinguished Employee Award from the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo for demonstrating the highest level of ethical standards and professionalism during the past year.
The Rotary club’s annual Suggs Distinguished Employee Recognition was established in honor of the award program’s founder and former San Luis Obispo Rotary Club President, Gary Suggs, to recognize Rotarians’ superior employees. Club member, Betsey Nash, the Human Resources Consultant for United Staffing Associates (USA) explains that Young stands out not only for her professionalism, but because of her “old-fashioned work ethic: ‘Whatever it takes—just get it done!’” Nash adds, “She is so bright and creative, and applies her years of experience in the human resources field to a plethora of issues every day.” Among many such contributions, Young is widely known for her “Ask Jeannine” HR Q&A service (available online at the USA website) in which she shares her expertise with the general public.
“Young handles seven branches (in Las Vegas, Oxnard, Paso Robles, Porterville, San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, and Visalia) and hundreds of employees,” says Nash, “yet she is always sending interesting articles from her many sources, lining up leads, and making herself available to listen to ideas and questions.”
Young, a former board member of the Human Resources Association of the Central Coast, member of the Exam Task Force for the new California HR Certification since its inception, and bearer of the prestigious certification of Senior Human Resources Professional (SPHR) since 2001, says she was honored to receive the Suggs recognition. She credits her success at USA to a long career in diverse business fields: with more than 30 years in human resources under her belt, she also draws on experience gained in management positions in retail, manufacturing, and public and private sectors, and in self-employment consulting.
