Dallas, TX, United States, 05/22/2009 – Shermco Industries, a leading provider of rotating machinery testing, repairing and remanufacturing as well as power systems maintenance and electrical damage restoration services, announced its schedule of training classes available in June 2009. Classes include preparation for code exams, in-depth hands-on electrical safety training for meeting OSHA electrical safety training requirements and the new 2009 NFPA 70E, as well as hands-on training programs for the maintenance and testing of electrical power system devices and systems.

Electrical Safety for Managers – 6/1
This one-day course answers the questions and needs of supervisors, managers and engineers who are responsible for or supervise electrical workers. Learn what your exposure is in the event of an accident; what is required of you and how to protect your company and your workers. This program offers solutions to those who are concerned about what is needed to show OSHA "Good Faith Effort", limit fines and liability, and ensure a safe work site. Each attendee will receive a copy of "The Electrical Safety Program Handbook" for future reference.

Electrical Safety for Qualified Electrical Workers – 6/2
Expanded to allow more time for hands-on lab sessions, this 20-hour electrical safety program meets OSHA’s mandated electrical safety training requirements for becoming a qualified electrical worker. Designed for electrical workers and others who may perform energized electrical work above 50 volts in industrial and commercial facilities, including medium-voltage switchgear and other utilization equipment, each attendee receives a copy of the NFPA 70E for future reference.

Electrical Print Reading – 6/8
Many electrical workers don’t know how to effectively read and use electrical drawings and prints, wasting valuable company time and resources. This three-day training program is designed for anyone using electrical drawings in their work, from single-line and three-lines to schematics. Practical exercises using actual prints are used to reinforce lecture.

Cable Splicing and Termination of Medium-Voltage Cables – 6/15
This is a technical and practical hands-on program which encompasses the procedures and methods for the proper splicing and termination of medium-voltage cables. By exposing the student to both classroom and lab session, the student learns both the technical and practical requirements of modern cable construction, repair and termination.

Electrical Safety Refresher Training – 6/22
This is a one-day practical electrical safety refresher course designed for personnel who have already completed the OSHA-mandated electrical safety training. Attendees will benefit from examples and videos designed to reacquaint them with electrical hazards and the need for using PPE.

Fundamentals of Variable Frequency (AC) Drives – 6/24
This four-day course is designed to provide electricians, maintenance personnel, and plant engineers with information on modern digital AC drives, as well as maintenance and troubleshooting techniques necessary to keep these products running.

National Electric Code 2008 – 6/29
Designed for anyone who needs to use the NEC effectively, this three-day training program is especially useful if you are preparing for your Code exam. Learn your weaknesses before you take the exam and learn what you need to pass. The course covers the ICC block exams used by the State of Texas in all jurisdictions. Each attendee will receive a copy of the current NEC and the new 2008 NEC will be covered when it is issued.

The Power’s Out. What Do I Do? – 6/29
When the power goes out in your facility, all production is lost! Do your people know what to do? This course includes the hazards associated with various parts of the power system, how to determine the most likely cause of an outage, safe operation of power system devices when their condition is unknown, performing a Hazard/Risk Assessment, and what information is critical to restoration and troubleshooting.

All classes take place at the company’s Dallas Learning Center, located inside Shermco Industries’ service center at 2425 East Pioneer in Irving, Texas. To register for any of these courses, or for more information, visit the training section of the company Website or call 1-800-SHERMCO.
