Austin, TX, United States, 2009/04/07 - CleanFuel Conversions and Altech-Eco announced a distribution agreement to bring EPA-certified dedicated and bi-fuel (gasoline and CNG) retro-fitted Ford Focus vehicles to Texas consumers - CleanFuelConversions.com.
Future plans also include offering natural gas retrofits for an ever-widening variety of larger sedans and trucks for both fleet and consumer use.
CNG, or compressed natural gas, is widely considered to be a leader in the alternative fuel sector. It is clean burning, domestically produced and offers substantial savings compared to gasoline. The CNG Ford Focus has the ability to run on either CNG or gasoline and comes with a manufacturer rated CNG cylinder of 9.1 GGE’s (Gasoline Gallon Equivalents), with a driving range of 218 - 318 miles with an average 35 mpg on highway and 24 in the city (results may vary). The Ford Focus with CNG option is now available in Texas through CleanFuel Conversions and should be available soon through participating Ford Dealerships. Altech-Eco offers an 8 year-80,000 mile warranty and Ford Motor Credit has approved the financing for the incremental cost of CNG conversion.
“CleanFuel is committed to helping Texans move to a better transportation fuel” President and founder, Ronnie Oldham said, We are excited about offering a bi-fuel vehicle like Altech-Eco’s Ford Focus retrofit, which will allow customers the ability to begin enjoying the benefits CNG today. The Focus provides a great platform for the CNG retrofit. The performance is impressive, the ride is comfortable and Ford offers a wide range of options from heated leather seats to the audiophile sound system with Microsoft Sync. It’s really a fun car to drive. You almost forget that you’re saving money while driving one of the lowest emission vehicles on the planet.” Oldham added, “Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Austin residents are eligible for an additional $3,000 rebate from Texas Gas Service.”
“Refueling options are still the biggest obstacle to mass CNG adoption, but most experts agree that we’ll see major CNG fueling infrastructure development over the next few years. In fact, CleanFuel is actively looking to partner with local fleet operators to establish two or three new public fueling stations in Austin this year. In the meantime, we have the public station operated by the City of Austin and the option of refueling right at your home or business.” Texas Gas also offers Austin customers a rebate for the purchase of a home refueling appliance.
