The global economic crisis has been and still is at the forefront of debate and discussion across Europe and the whole globe. With the information overload that has been provided by the media, it can be challenging to decipher fact from myth or truth from exaggeration. The Economic Summit, one of this year's highlights of Frost & Sullivan's GIL 2009: Europe, provides the opportunity to learn more about and discuss today's most important and pressing economic issues with knowledgeable professionals who are experts in their fields.
The Economic Summit begins at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 20 May at Sofitel St. James in Central London, following keynote speaker, Frost & Sullivan Chairman David Frigstad. Holger Schmieding, the chief economist of the European division of Bank of America will deliver the Eye on the Economy - Smart Strategies to Survive and Prosper. Schmieding will discuss the real impact of the global economic meltdown on European business, examining areas such as exports and investments, the European Stimulus, inflation and deflation, emerging markets in Europe, central banks, the monetary union and the hope of a rebound as soon as late 2009.
Following Schmieding's presentation, Aroop Zutshi, President and Managing Partner with Frost & Sullivan, will lead a panel titled Emerging Growth Economies: China, Russia, Latin America, Africa, and Beyond that will examine trends in key emerging markets with an emphasis on understanding opportunities for firms to benefit from their economic turnaround. The panel will analyse all the key emerging markets in the world and consider both policies and prospects. Panellists include Manuel Balmaseda, Global Chief Economist, Cenex; David Cowan, Africa Economist, Citi; Vladimir Makatsaria, Area Director of Central/Eastern Europe (CEE) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Johnson and Johnson; and Professor Wolfgang Klenner, East Asia Studies Faculty, Ruhr University Bochum. A thirty minute networking, refreshment, and exhibition break will follow this discussion.
As mentioned, the Economic Summit is one of the many highlights of 'GIL 2009: Europe - Growth, Innovation & Leadership: A Frost & Sullivan Global Congress on Corporate Growth', the growth partnership company's flagship event delivering proven strategies, tools, perspectives and ideas for growth from a global community of contemporary thought leaders.
GIL 2009: Europe provides a forum for delegates to brainstorm, network and structure strategic partnerships to achieve their growth objectives, while keeping a keen eye on the economy. It delivers real world case studies, best practices, and actionable strategies that companies can employ. Participants will examine the dynamics of growth and gain access to critical expertise that will help differentiate their companies from the competition and engage in interactive think tanks that will teach organizations how to identify, analyse, and prioritise opportunities in their respective industries. There will be interactive sessions examining global market opportunities and insights in various industries.
